Meal Planning

So lately I’ve noticed my Walmart trips seem to get closer and closer together, but never any cheaper.  What is the deal???  We are not gaining tons of weight but we seem to be eating more I guess.  Normally I’ll make a list to grocery shop….but forget it at home or in the car!!!  Not much good at that point.  So I decided to start meal planning like I’ve been reading on other blogs.  It seems to work, I just have to stick to it.  I actually planned for 2 weeks rather than just one and shopped for the full 2 weeks.  Obviously I got breakfast and snack foods too while shopping.  I really didn’t spend as much as normal.  I find myself wandering the aisles forgetting recipes I normally cook and then just grabbing things.  When I get home I don’t really have ingredients to cook much so I’ll end up running to Oakpoint {the grocery down the street} which is never a cheap deal.  $60 is my normal “run in and get milk” total.  They have a yummy bakery and it just calls my name when I’m in there so extra things end up coming home with me.  So we will see how this planning goes.  So far, so good.  I’m just really curious if I’ll end up going to the store before my 2 weeks is up.  I’d love to buy for longer than a 2 week period but honestly we just don’t have the storage at my house.  My pantry is tiny and we have a drawer freezer…enough said.  Also, the buggy is packed so high there’s no way I could fit anything else without definitely not being able to push that bad boy.  Ok, so here’s my menu for this week….

Monday:  Shrimp Fettuccine

Tuesday:  Chicken Quesidiilas

Wednesday:  Slow Cooker Chicken w/ Noodles

Thursday:  Pulled Pork Sandwiches w/ Steak Fries

Friday:  Baked Ziti w/ Garlic Bread

Saturday:  Leftovers

Sunday:  Steak and Hot Dogs on Grill
